ubitricity führt Smart Charging in Großbritannien ein

Großbritannien, 15. Februar 2023: ubitricity, Betreiber des größten öffentlichen Ladenetzes in Großbritannien, hat mit der Einführung der so genannten Smart Charging-Technologie an mehr als 4.000 ubitricity-Ladepunkten begonnen.

 

Was ist Smart Charging?

 

ubitricitys Smart Charging ermöglicht Fahrer*innen, ihre Fahrzeuge außerhalb von Spitzenzeiten zu einem günstigeren Preis zu laden, beispielsweise zwischen 19.00 abends und 16.00 Uhr nachmittags. Während Smart Charging im Bereich des Heimladens bereits weit verbreitet ist, stellt die Implementierung an über 65 % des ubitricity-Ladenetzes die bis dato größte öffentliche Einführung dieser Art in Großbritannien dar.  

Toby Butler, UK Managing Director von ubitricity, erklärt: „Wir wissen aus unseren Daten, dass die meisten unserer Nutzer*innen ihr Auto am Ende ihres Arbeitstages aufladen – zu einer Zeit, in der der Energiebedarf bereits seinen Höhepunkt erreicht hat. Das smarte Laden ermöglicht es Fahrer*innen, ihr Auto zur gewohnten Zeit anzustecken, aber den Ladevorgang erst nach den Spitzenzeiten beginnen zu lassen.

 

Wie wird Smart Charging genutzt?

 

Die ersten Nutzer*innendaten des ubitricity-Smart Chargings zeigen, dass die Option bereits vielfach zum Einsatz kommt: Über 45 % der in Frage kommenden Ladevorgänge wurden mittels Smart Charging zu einem günstigeren Zeitpunkt gestartet.  Seit Beginn der Einführung an über 4.000 Ladepunkten im Dezember 2022 haben durchschnittliche Nutzer*innen dank des smarten Ladens rund 4,00 Pfund pro Ladevorgang gespart.  Fahrer*innen, die zweimal pro Woche lädt, sparen rechnerisch somit 32 Pfund pro Monat.

Toby Butler ergänzt: „Es wird geschätzt, dass mehr als acht Millionen Haushalte in Großbritannien keinen Zugang zu privaten Parkplätzen oder Parkplätzen abseits der Straße haben. Wir sind der Meinung, dass diese Bewohner*innen Zugang zu preiswerten öffentlichen Lademöglichkeiten benötigen. In einer Zeit, in der sich die Energiepreise auf alle auswirken, gehen wir mit dem Smart Charging neue Wege, um Energieeinsparungen an unsere Kunden weiterzugeben.“

 

Warum ist Smart Charging relevant?

 

Für Toby Butler ist die Einführung intelligenter Ladestationen für die Umstellung auf Elektrofahrzeuge in Großbritannien von entscheidender Bedeutung: „Derzeit sind in Großbritannien mehr als 100.000 Elektrofahrzeuge zugelassen. Diese Zahl dürfte in den kommenden Jahren exponentiell ansteigen, wenn E-Autos billiger und die öffentliche Infrastruktur verbessert werden.

Ian Cameron, Director of Customer Service and Innovation bei UK Power Networks, führt aus: „Unser Ziel ist es, den Umstieg auf ein Elektroauto allen Bürger*innen zu ermöglichen – unabhängig davon, ob der Zugang zu einer privaten Ladestation gegeben ist. Das Smart Charging ist eine bahnbrechende Entwicklung, die das öffentliche Laden zu geringeren Kosten für eine große Anzahl von Menschen zugänglich macht.“

Cameron ergänzt: „Es besteht kein Zweifel, dass die Elektrifizierung des Verkehrs enorme Vorteile für die Umwelt mit sich bringt. Gleichzeitig bringt der Zustrom von E-Autos Auswirkungen auf die Stromversorgung Großbritanniens mit. Das smarte Laden stellt einen wichtigen Baustein zur Lösung dieser Herausforderungen dar.“

Die ubitricity-Smart Charging-Software wurde zunächst an 300 Ladepunkten im Londoner Stadtteil  Westminster getestet. Der Bezrik verfügt derzeit über mehr als 1.500 ubitricity-Ladepunkte an Straßenlaternen und Pollern und ist damit der ideale Standort für die Erprobung der neuen Technologie. 

Paul Dimoldenberg, Kabinettsmitglied für Stadtmanagement und Luftqualität im Stadtrat von Westminster, zieht ein Resümee über die Testphase: „Da wir im Herzen Londons liegen, haben die meisten unserer Bewohner*innen keine eigenen Parkplätze. Die Technologie des smarten Ladens mit ubitricity, stellt eine Möglichkeit dar, in Zeiten der Lebenshaltungskostenkrise und der hohen Energiepreise Geld zu sparen.“
