How to charge at lamppost chargers in Germany

Welcome to the user guide for ubitricity charge points in Germany. You can find separate information for charging with a RFID card or app and ad hoc charging with QR code as well as descriptions for the LED below.

LED indicators

Account-based charging with a charging RFID card or app

Use your charging card as usual. The prerequisite is that your e-Mobility Service Provider (EMSP) supports our ubitricity charging points. The tariffs of your EMSP apply.

  • To start the charging event simply use your RFID card or mobile app from your E-Mobility provider.
  • The billing takes place as usual via your mobility provider.

Step 1 – (START)

Make sure that the green LED of the charge point is lit. Hold your charging card up to the RFID symbol or select the charge point in your app. After successful authorisation, the blue LED flashes quickly. The charge point is now ready to be connected to your vehicle.

Step 2

Connect the charging cable to the charge point. To do this, plug in the cable and turn it counterclockwise until it can be inserted properly.

Step 3

Connect the cable to your vehicle too. The charging process starts and your vehicle is charging. The LED is flashing blue slowly.

Step 4 – (STOP)

Ending the charging process depends on the form of authorisation:

  • If you have started the charging process in your app: End the process in your app.
  • If you have started the charging process with your RFID card: End the process by presenting the charging card to the RFID reader.
  • Alternatively, you can stop the charging process by unlocking your vehicle and disconnecting the charging cable (unplug the cable from the vehicle first before attempting to remove the cable from charge point).

The charge point ends the charging process, unlocks the cable and you will receive the invoice according to the billing from your mobile electricity provider

Selective ad hoc charging

 

  • If you do not have a contract with a e-mobility service provider (EMSP), simply use the QR code and charge your vehicle without a long term contract.
  • To do this, follow the instructions on the mobile website after scanning the QR code.
  • The tariffs will be displayed to you online before payment. Payment is made after charging.

Step 1 – (START)

Make sure that the green LED of the charging point is lit. Scan the QR code on the charge point. Use any conventional smartphone camera for this. Follow the instructions on the mobile website.

Step 2

Connect the charging cable to the charge point. To do this, plug in the cable and turn it counterclockwise until it can be inserted properly. As the last step, continue to follow the instructions on the mobile site and enter your payment details.

Step 3

Connect the cable to your vehicle too. The charging process starts and your vehicle is charging. The LED is flashing blue slowly.

Step 4 – (STOP)

End the charging process by unlocking your vehicle and unplugging the charging cable – first on the vehicle. The charge point ends the charging process, unlocks the cable and you will receive the invoice according to the kWh you have charged via email.

Explanations on LED indicators

The lamp post charge points from ubitricity have three colored LED displays on the front. These light up or flash either individually or in combination and indicate the current status of the charge point. Below you will find an overview of the meaning of each indicator.
