FAQs
Will I still be able to use the SureCharge app?
The SureCharge app will remain available until the rebranding of the SureCharge network is fully completed. We expect the app to be retired by the end of March 2026.
Will pricing change?
The cost of using these EV charge points will remain the same as the current SureCharge app pricing. Prices will continue to follow our standard tariff updates, with the next planned adjustment in April 2026.
Pre-authorisation fees: When you begin a charging session, your bank places a £40 pre‑authorisation hold to confirm funds are available. This usually appears in your account as a pending transaction.
Once your charging session ends, we immediately notify your bank of the final amount and release the pre‑authorisation hold. While this release is instant on our side, your bank may take additional time to update your account balance.
Do I need to download a new app to use these charge points?
You do not need to download an app to charge with ubitricity. You can start a new charging session by either:
- Scanning the QR code on the side of the charge point which will bring up a new charging session
- Going to our Pay-As-You-Go Map, selecting the charge point you would like to charge at and starting a new charging session.
Our network is also available on all commonly used roaming apps including the Shell app
Can I still charge using my RFID card?
After the network migration, RFID cards will no longer work on these charge points. You’ll be able to start a new charging session using one of the following methods:
- Scan the QR code on the side of the charge point to instantly open a new charging session.
- Going to our Pay-As-You-Go Map, selecting the charge point you would like to charge at and starting a new charging session.
You can also access our network through all major roaming apps, including the Shell app.
