How to get a free public charging station in Amersfoort

Applications are limited so we recommend applying for your charge point as soon as possible.
Amersfoort is working with experienced private charge point operators. And we‘re happy to announce that Shell Recharge is one of them!

The city of Amersfoort has established a clear process for the application of new AC chargers with charging capacities of up to 22kW.

Step 1:

Apply for your prefered charging station location

To start the process, you need to submit your application to the city of Amersfoort. Simply access their website at www.amersfoort.nl/laadpalen and fill out the form. Please make sure your application meets the prerequisites [Link to FAQs at the bottom of the page]

Step 2:

Have your application approved by the municipality of Amersfoort

If your public charging station request gets approved, you will receive by email:

  • an application number
  • the exact location with a specific location number
  • a letter for your prefered charge point operator

Step 3:

Send your approved application to Shell Recharge

Forward your approved application to Shell Recharge in order to benefit from the advantages of one of the largest charging networks in Europe, and we‘ll take care of the rest.

Step 4:

Shell Recharge will install your new charging station

The exciting phase kicks off! Our team will work at full pace to install the new charging station. As many different parties (municipality, grid operator, etc.) are involved, we can unfortunately not guarantee a specific timeline.

We will stay in close contact with you and keep you up-to-date about the process.

  • You must not have their own driveway
  • You must have a Electric car (owned or through lease agreement)
  • You need to be able to provide proof of car ownership.
  • There can not be another CP within 200 meter OR 250 walking distance of the house the citizen lives
  • You must live within the municipality of Amersfoort
